Summer is not the only time of year that is ideally suited for fun, outdoor activities. Once the snow begins to fall, winter can easily become a wonderland of outdoor excitement. And with all of the various snow toys that are currently available, both children and adults can find something with which to stay entertained while out in the cold. In many cases, these toys are relatively inexpensive, but can provide hours and hours of wintertime fun.
Welcome to Sno-toys.com. We are your Internet headquarters for the latest in winter toys, including snow sleds and solid wood toboggans. We believe that just because it is a bit cold outside, that does not mean one has to be trapped inside the house all day long. To that end, we have designed our website to be used as a resource of information regarding all things in winter fun. The information we provide is meant to be as non-biased and accurate as possible, and we do not promote or endorse any one manufacturer, retailer, or product over another.
Sledding is one of the most popular outdoor winter activities in the country, if not the world. Few things in life can provide the same rush of adrenaline that can be obtained by hurling oneself down a snow covered hillside, attached to nothing but a simple piece of plastic or wood. And while this activity is normally associated with being a kid, the truth of the matter is that many people find they enjoy sledding as much as adults as they did as children. Evidence of this can be easily found, as there are nearly as many adult sled designs out there as there are for younger riders.
Because sledding is such a popular activity, the toy market has produced sleds of many different designs. For those on a budget, inexpensive plastic sleds can be found through just about any toy store in the country. Many of these can be purchased for less than 20-30 dollars, but they do not usually last more than one or two seasons. There are also a number of inflatable snow sled designs, and while these tend to be quite fast, they are nearly impossible to steer, which makes them slightly more dangerous. These inflatable designs also tend to be relatively inexpensive.
And then there are the more expensive options. If one has the means, there are many sleds that are designed to be not only fast, but very agile as well. Some of these designs can include shock absorbers, interchangeable skis (which can be switched out depending on the terrain), and highly accurate steering mechanisms. Sleds like these, however, can be quite expensive, with some examples costing hundreds of dollars.
Of course, not everyone is looking for "high-tech". Solid wood toboggans offer not only an outstanding sledding experience, but they also offer a high level of nostalgia. Much like a classic car, these sled designs are as interesting to look at as they are to ride.
